May 8 @ 8:00 am - May 10 @ 5:00 pm

nat-challenge-biodiv-thumb

A piquant mixture of stretchy science, disruptive technologies, Māori and indigenous knowledge, business and industry, government and NGOs. We look forward to hearing your ideas (even if they do sound a bit crazy!), ambitions, progress, promises, experiences and future plans at this, our first national meeting.

Speakers: Dr Andrea Byrom, Hon Paul Goldsmith, Jan Hania, and more.

Symposia will be organised around the following themes, broadly including all aspects of New Zealand’s Biological Heritage:

Indigenous session: cultural and biological heritage
Reversing the decline of NZ’s threatened and endangered species
Beyond the halo: widescale predator control and a Predator-Free NZ
Restoring resilience in freshwater ecosystems
Partnerships in Conservation
Social licence to operate
Biosecurity: protecting NZ’s primary industries from damaging weeds and pests
Distruptive technologies: the role of genetics, genomics and eDNA in protecting NZ’s biological heritage
